Mowbray Lodge's annual social evenings are fast becoming a popular and exciting date for the diary. Previous years have had a great following where many people leave with a smile, great memories and uite often a good bottle of malt or an LCD TV out of the raffle!
A great opportunity where members, friends and family, along with their wives or partners can get together and have a wonderful time and let their hair down. Previous years have seen us celebrate it Beamish Hall Hotel and lots of other great venues. This year we have chosen to bring it slightly closer to home and have arranged our ladies evening on the Sat 27th March 2010 at the Sunderland Marriot Hotel at Seaburn. An exciting venue, for what will prove to be a night of surprises, fun and friendship.

The tickets are priced at £32 and will include a sumptuous four course meal, and live entertainment from The Jo James Band. The tickets are likely to sell out quickly, but if you are a friend of Mowbray Lodge and would like to come along, just drop us an email on secretary@mowbraylodge.org

Our December meeting saw something unique for Mowbray Lodge and our newly appointed Inner Guard, Bro.R.Summerson. Following a knock at the door, Bro.Summerson opened the door and started something very special for us all. He announced that his actual brother was outside hoping to become his 'Brother' by his initiation into Freemasonry.
A great night was had by all, and we welcome Bro.Summerson (the other one!) into Mowbray Lodge and Freemasonry in general.

Yesterday Mowbray Lodge welcomed a new Master into the chair, W.Bro. Dr Rakesh Bhalla PPrSGW. W.Bro. Bhalla has served Mowbray Lodge in this capacity on 2 previous occasions in 1998 and 1999, and most recently as Assistant Director of Ceremonies.
W.Bro. Bhalla is a General Practitioner and a very committed Mason, having served the Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham in the official capacity of the Provincial Senior Grand Warden. He is also the Chairman of a strategic group set up by the Provincial Grand Master, Rt.W.Bro. Norman Eric Heaviside, with the purpose to review and recommend transformational change programmes for the benefit and future of Freemasonry in the Province of Durham.
This is an exciting appointment for Mowbray Lodge, particularly as our University Scheme participation gains traction in 2010, where we have a number of undergraduate students from the University of Sunderland seeking admission into our Lodge to join the post graduate members who have passed through our doors.
A very busy 2010 ahead!
