Freemasonry at the University of Sunderland

Mowbray Lodge participates in the United Grand Lodge of England's Universities Scheme, the aim of which is to encourage both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sunderland to discover Craft Freemasonry.

The scheme is under the direction of the Assistant Grand Master David Kenneth Williamson and is supported by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham. W.Bro. D.E. Lascelles, Assistant Provincial Grand Master has overall responsibility for the scheme in our Province.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sunderland who are interested in learning more about Freemasonry should contact us. In the first instance we will invite you to meet with us to explain in more detail the work of our Lodge and of Freemasonry in general.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham currently supports three Lodges in promoting Freemasonry into the University of Sunderland and also Durham University. Undergraduates, Graduates, Researchers, Academics and Lecturers are all welcome to petition us if you are interested in joining University Freemasonry.
