Welcome to Mowbray Lodge No.5373

We are a diverse Lodge with members from all walks of life and all ages. The breadth of youth, experience and cultures makes for a vibrant, fulfilling, and happy experience. We have a strong core of Senior Past Masters and senior members who proactively support our newer members who are keen to learn. We pride ourselves on quality to make for an interesting and fulfilling evening.

We have been members of the Universities Scheme since 2008, opening Freemasonry to Sunderland University, and we have had interest from students, staff, and alumni since then. Former students and staff have now become senior members within the Lodge. Our membership does not however, only come from the Universities Scheme and we welcome all enquiries.

You will find us committed to ensuring that the membership can develop as Masons, in whatever way you choose.

When we meet : First Wednesday, Feb-May & Oct-Dec

On Remembrance Sunday 2025 Mowbray Lodge supports the Remembrance Day Parades.

Brethren of Mowbray Lodge turn out at various Parades to pay their respects

WBro Rak Bhalla, Asst ProvGM and Master of Mowbray Lodge felt a great sense of pride and honour to be asked by the Province of Durham to lead the South Shields Freemasons in today’s Remembrance Day Parade and he was well supported by the Brethren and their families including WBro Bob Summerson of Mowbray who joined the parade. The South Shields Lodges were represented by WBro Paul Pollock. It was also an honour to meet the Mayor, Jay Potts,  the Leader of the Council Tracey Dixon and the DL, Commander Edward McNaught representing His Majesty The King. To be able to pay this tribute to those Freemasons and Armed Forces personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice and all others currently Serving was a real privilege.
At the same time in Sunderland, members of  Mowbray Lodge No.5373 including Martin Lawson our Immediate Past Master, John Rafter, Michael Gilmore, Bobby Hann, Lewis Curry and Kristian Brown joined the Provincial Grand Master and Sunderland Freemasons in paying tribute at the Cenotaph in Burdon Road.
Thank you for your service.
